Here’s The Snowball In Hades!
Crop Output jor 1940 Considered
Ample, Stated in Report
t
Crorp production in the United
States this year promises to be
fairly in line with probable require
ments, in general, with a gross out
put only slightly under 1939, re
ports the O. S. C. extension service
in its current review of the agri
cultural situation. Some decline oc
curred in the farm price level dur
ing recent weeks in the country as
a whole, but the Oregon general
farm price level was maintained,
according to data in the report.
Sheeley Taken to
County Jail—
Lester Sheeley, former city at
torney, was arrested here Saturday

ing period last year.
Hay Crop Large
The principal variation in crop
prospects from last year which is of
particular significance to the farm
ers in Oregon is forage supplies. The
hay crop of the country is expected
to be very large—probably the larg
est production since 1927. Despite
an increase of about 2 per cent in
hay-consuming livestock, principally
cattle and sheep, the hay crop will
(be large enough for liberal feeding
in most areas with considerable
carry-over next year.
The report contains detailed infor
mation regarding prospective pro
duction and farm prices on a large
number of farm commodities, includ
ing wheat, feed grains, hay, seed
crops, potatoes, truck crops, hops,
Hot flame seems powerless to affect this 300 degree below zero
"snowball”. In fact, glistening white frost will collect on it even when
it is suspended in fire. These two pretty young visitors at the Frigid
aire exhibit in the General Motors building at the New York World’s
Fair, where the “snow in flame” performance is staged, expressed
amazement at scientific proof that a “snowball” can be so cold.
