U m » Ordinances regulating the use of bicycles soon will be in effect in two more Oregon towns, reports received by Earl Snell, secretary of state, revealed today. The Independence city council h*6 adopted such an ordinance and the Redmond city council is con sidering one. The Independence ordinance pro vides for the registration of all bicycles in the city and requires lights for bikes ridden at night. Riding “double” is made illegal by the ordinance. The Redmond ordinance is ex pected to require registration and provides for the issuance of license plates for which a fee of 25 cents will be charged. In order to obtain a license, the applicant will be re quired to pass a riding test and a written examination on traffic regu lations. As a penalty for infraction of the provisions of the proposed ordinance, the offender’s bicycle would be impounded for a period Of time determined by the city recorder. The Redmond ordinance was read at the lasit council meeting and referred to a committee for final writing. Dr. R. D. At the close of the meeting, Seaside lodge put on their drill; then refreshments were served in the dining hall. The door prize went to Mary Kap- hammer.
