“BRITISH INTELLIGENCE” AT
JOY SHOWS WAR SPY WORK—
Espionage and intrigue, elements
of great current interest, are the
basis of Warner Bros.’ timely film,
“British Intelligence,” which is
coming to the Joy Theatre on Sat
urday.
To keep the film authentic, the

¡Margaret Lindsay plays the role
of a girl posing as a German spy
working for the British govern
ment and a British spy working for
the German government all at the
same time. Boris Karloff portrays
the ace German spy who has been
causing many an Englishman gray
hair, The action represented by
the two coming together is an
accurate account, while entirely
fictional, of events which might be
transpiring abroad at the very
moment.

BELOVED SONGS
IN "SWANEE RIVER”—
The best-loved songs of Stephen

troubadour, are heard in “Siwanee
River,” the 20th Century-Fox Tech
nicolor production, featuring Don
Ameche, Andrea Leeds and Al Jol-
>n at the Joy Theatre on Tuesday
and Wednesday.
Ameche, who plays the composer,
and Jolson, who plays E. P. Chrisity,
minstrel king of that colorful day,
sing several of the songs, and other
melodies are rendered by the fam
ous Hall Johnson Choir.
Among the numbers sung are
The Old Folks at Home” (Swanee
River), “Old Black Joe,” “My Old
Kentucky Home,” “Oh! Susanna.”,
“De |Ca,mptown Races,” “Jeanie
with the Light Brown Hair” and
‘ Ring, Ring de Banjo.” Also heard
in the film are Foster’s “Beautiful
