In my opinion, ‘The Rains Came’ is a great picture.” YOUR WEEK’S PROGRAM AT THE JOY THEATRE LAUREL, HARDY TURN TO PAN TOMINE IN “FLYING DEUCES’’— Thursday and Friday, February 8 and 9 “BROTHER RAT AND A BABY” There are still millions who in sist that pantomine is the essense of comedy. So while Charlie Chaplin, last remaining champion of pantomine, is preparing an all-talking picture, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy have striven to eliminate as much dia logue as possible in their current KKO Radio feature comedy, “The Flying Deuces.” The picture is approximately six ty per cent pantomine. Every effort was made to use only enough spok en lines to carry the story along. Little if any dependence has been placed on gags. The three most important—and what should prove the most amus ing sequence— in the picture are entirely in pantomime. Credited with the comedians in a departure from the usual is Boris Morros, who insists that “comedians talk too much.” Making his debut in Hollywood with this picture as an independent producer, Morros has provided a musical score that augments every comedy situation, with the tricks of harps, wood, wind and brass speak ing louder than words. The producer describes his initial effort as a “Silly Symphony of Comedy with living characters.” Saturday, February 10 DOUBLE FEATURE Sunday and Monday February 11 and 12 10YPOWERBREHT BraiuU lore, tupi iraca ■ Hana Outpruhfr , SckWaci - Wan Nub 'ana Dar well Italiana taaSaau ■ Haul) Tiaaan • H.
