According to an announcement
made by C. C. Hockley, PWA re­
gional director, all pending appli­
cations for PWA allotments sub­
mitted to the Public Works Admin­
istration by representatives of pub­
lic bodies in Oregon have been re­
turned to applicants. Among those
returned was the Vernonia appli­
cation for resurfacing streets.
In a letter accompanying the re­
turned applications, Director Hock­
ley said:
“We regret the necessity to do
this but as no appropriation was
made, no allotment could be made.
With the return of this application
we are releasing all claim and it
would be proper for you to con­
struct this project with your own
or other avaible funds.”
