Mr. and Mrs. Dick Lynch of
Riverview returned Friday evening
from a motor trip to Los Angeles
and other California points. They
had spent the holidays and ensu­
ing time with friends and relatives
there. They went as far south as
Tia Juana.

M. A. Oakes’ much-publicized
feat, that of tying a steelhead to
a stake along the banks of the
Nehalem in the Riverview district
was followed closely by a second
good catch Friday when he hooked
and landed a 6-pound female steel­
head in about the same place.

suffered for some time with ad­
hesions and the operation was ad

the clinic. She is recovering rapidlj
at the hosptal, Her husband report­
ed yesterday following a visit there

and to be with her prior and during
the operation.
Resigns—
E. S. Thompson, salesman with
the Vernonia Auto Company since
August, 1934, resigned Saturday, ac­
cording to an official announcement
made this week by the local firm.
The resignation severs all connec­
tion Thompson has had with thi
auto company, the announcement
stated. The former well-known ioca.
salesman has not revealed his plans
or the future. Thompson has been
»rominent in civic affairs in Ver­
nonia during his employe here, hav­
ing served as commander of the
local Legion post. He is now dist­
rict membership chairman for the
x-service men’s organization. Mr

home in the Riverview district.
