Guest speaker at the Vernonia
Study club’s guest-day tea at
the Judd Greenman home Thurs­
day afternoon of last week was
Mrs. R. A. Harcourt of Port­
land, who read “Victoria Re­
gina.”
Mrs. Harcourt, who is
a former teacher of dramatic
art at Northwestern university,
gave a most effective interpreta-
ion of the famous play.
Mrs. L. H. Dewey sang “Ab­
sent” and “Maiden’s Song” ac­
companied by Mrs. Enoch Du­
mas.
Mrs. Dumas played as a
piano solo, MacDowell’s “To a
Water Lily.” The Vernonia high
school girls’ trio, Beulah Reed,
Joanne
Nichols
and
Bertha
Thompson
sang “While the
Birds are Singing” with Amy
Hughes, their director, accom­
panying.
Mrs. E. R. Estey and Mrs. Ben
Bennett presided at the tea
table.
Mrs. Paul Gordon, Mrs.
H. M. Bigelow, Mrs. Ivan N.
McCollom and Mrs. Enoch Du­
mas assisted in serving.
Bowls of spring flowers formed
the decorative note for the tea
table and the rooms.
The program committee con­
sisted of Mrs. McCollom, Mrs.
Estey and Mrs. Bennett.

the tea.
