VERNONIA EAGLE, VERNONIA. OREGON Crippled War Veterans Pray for Peace Gathered before the miracle working shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, in France, battered war veterans from all the nations of Europe—many of them former enemies—joined in prayers for peace. A hundred and fifty thousand veterans made the pilgrimage to this year’s peace congress at the grotto. Here Is Miss America of 1936 Queen of beauties is Rose Veronica Coyle, 22-year-old college gradu ate of Yeadon. Pa., who is shown enthroned after winning the title of "Miss America of ’1936." at the beauty pageant in Atlantic City. Miss Coyle was selected from a group of 48 entrants from states and cities. In addition to her trophy, she receives a plane trip to Hollywood and a screen test. Miss Coyle is five feet six inches tall, weighs 114 pounds and has dark brown eyes and black hair. Swedish Week-End House on Legs This unusual week-end house was erected on six legs at a vacation* point near Stockholm, Sweden. The open space under the house pro vides pace for automobiles.
