    Band Members Guests at Fair
(Continued from Page 1)
the evening before the wrestling
after which the young musicians
were free to enjoy the evening
until they began the home trip
at 10:30.
The Vernonia boys and girls,
dressed in natty white uniforms
were highly praised for their
playing, their attractive appear
ance and their fine conduct.
“They either made a big hit with
the fair crowds,” said Mr. Watts,
“or else the people there were
awful liars.” Mr. Watts and the
many Vernonia residents attend
ing the fair that day are distincly
proud of the band, especially be
cause it has been in existence
only since February, and at that
time only one member of the:
band had ever before played the
instrument he now is using.
Twenty-seven local young peo
ple played at the fair, but 40
members of the band made the
trip, including a beginning group
which started work more recently.
The Vernonia Eagle office will
be closed this week end from Fri
day evening to Tuesday morning.
