VERNON L. GREEN,
FORMER RESIDENT,
DIES IN HOSPITAL
Vernon L. Green, former em­
ployee of the Vernonia post of­
fice, died in the American Lake
Veterans’ hospital February 20.
He is a son-in-law of Mr. and
Mrs. Ben S. Owens of Vernonia,
and resided here for about five
years. Funeral services were held
in Centralia, Wash., on Monday.
He was a World War veteran
and was 37 years old.

Blue Jays Win Twice
The game between the Long­
view girls and the Blue Jays
the same evening was exciting.
Both teams displayed plenty of
fight, and the game was enjoyed
by the players as well as by the
audience. The score was 28 to 10
in favor of the Blue Jays. Brady
scored 13 points for Vernonia,
Lane 9 points, Frances Berger-
son 6. Hall and Veith substituted
at center, Thompson at guard.
Sofia gained two field goals
for Longview, Laman one lield
goal and two free tosses, and
Bell one field goal.
Saturday night the Blue Jays
held the St. Helens girls down to
one field goal, and two other
points were gained by foul shots.
The Blue Jays won 28 to 4.
Brady as forward sank eight
field goals, Lane four, Bergerson
and Thompson one each. Substi­
tutions for the Blue Jays were
Goertzen, Hall and Veith.
Last Game Pending
The last game of the season is
pending as a double header with
the men’s and women’s Turn

Jays. In addition a couple of
home games are being scheduled
by the men’s team at an early

Radio shop, near the post office,

Alterations to adapt the shop
to its new purpose have been in
progress for the past week. Mr.

rooms. In the front the walls
will be kalsomined and stipled,
and linoleum will be laid on
the floor.
