FIRDAY, DECEMBER 7, 1934 Timber V —.................. -M As the outgoing local freight, bound for Tillamook, passed through tunnel No. 28 a large boulder crashed down the moun tain side and passed through the rear coach. The impact broke three windows and left a large hole in the roof of the car where the boulder passed through. The car was sent to the Brooklyn yards for repairs* The car was unoccupied. It is beginning to look as though Old Man Winter had real- ly come to stay around Timber. The surrounding hills are cover ed with a mantel of snow. Paul DeRemer and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hart spent the Thanks giving holiday in Portland with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Welter and daughter Jean spent Thanksgiv ing in Portland with Mrs. Wel ter’s brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Narver. Mrs. Percy McCampbell is spending the week here with her husband, who is employed by the S. P. Co. Mrs. McCampbell re- sides in Portland. L. R. Bodley spent the week with his family in Portland, re turning Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Turk spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Riche. Edwin Hallam, S. P. water ser vice man, was confined to his home for several days last week with a severe cold. Miss Juanita Nelson spent the week end with her parents in Monmouth. Miss La Velle Berg spent the Thanksgiving holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Berg in Skamakawa, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Wilson spent Thanksgiving with Mr. Wil- son’s mother, Mrs. Mabel Wilson at Gales Creek. Word has been received that Morris Dean, son of < Mrs. B. H. Tillotson, who has been stationed with the Marines in the Philli- pine Islands for I the past four years, is in San Francisco and will return home within a few days. Walter CKltner and son Walter, Jr., of Portland were business visitors in Timber last week. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hankins were Forest Grove visitors last Monday. Mrs. Cora Wheeler was a busi- ness visitor from Portland last week. Mr. and Mrs. John Richmond and daughter Irene and Mr, and Mrs. Arthur Gilmore were busi ness visitors in Portland last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. George Wilson spent last week at the home of Mrs. Wilson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geqrge LeGault in Tacoma.
