Auxiliary Plans Treat for Legion Boys Tuesday Eve. Vernonia Vote By Precincts According to the latest whis pering campaign (non-politcal) members of Vernonia American Legion Auxiliary plan to treat the boys who won the war to a fine supper of turkey, berries, strawberry short cake and other goodies following the joint meet-1 ing of both Legion and Auxiliary next Tuesday evening at the Le- gion hall. Commander Earl Atkins in re turn for the big treat in store Tuesday evening has pledged to give each lady of the Auxiliary with a 1935 membership card paid up, a fine Christmas present which his friends say he person ally will deliver. Tuedfcy evening a splendid program will be sponsored. Mrs. Gene Shipman and Mrs. Ellis McGraw will render a duet, Charlie Biggs a solo and several musical selections by Happy Thompson and Harry Kerns. It is hoped by those Legionnaires anxious for a good turnout that j each Legionnaire will bring his wife along and if need be all i kids can be bunched downstairs j for a free-for-all until after the meeting. Baby Clinic to Be Conducted Here November 17, A free baby clinic for children under three years of age will be conducted by Dr. Roland D. Eby and Miss Nettie Alley, county nurse, a week from Saturday, November 17, from two until four o’clock in the former Culver market and grocery building on Bridge street, two doors west of GRAHAM THANKS PUBLIC I wish to hereby express my sincere thanks to my many friends throughout Columbia county for the Bplendid support given me at the election Tues day. Hazen was in Vernonia While in Portland Wednesday in the interest of the Fred O. Miller, 65, vice-presi dent and general manager of the Miller Mercantile company, died Sunday at the Good Samaritan hospital. Though he was in poor health several months ago his condition had improved consid erably. He was in Corvallis on business last week and intended to visit the Vernonia store this week, according to L. H. Dewey, local manager. Mr. Miller was a frequent visi- tor in Vernonia on business con- nected with his firm. Services were held Wednesday in Portland.
