SPOKANE VISITORS LEAVE FOR HOME SOCIETY NEWS - CLUBS - FRATERNAL MISS GLASSNER IS GIVEN SURPRISE WILMA GLASSNER TO BE MARRIED IN IDAHO STUDY CLUB HOLDS SPECIAL MEETING Miss Wilma Glassner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Glassner of Treharne, was the inspiration of a number of showers and so cial affairs given in her honor prior to her departure Thursday by train from Portland for Briggs, Idaho, where she is to marry Arthur Hayden of Jen- ning’s Lake, Wyoming. Mr. Hayden will meet Miss Glassner at Briggs and after their marriage they will go to Jen- ning’s Lake to make their home. Miss Glassner and Mr. Hayden first met while Mr. Hayden was a member of the CCC camp at Mist. His parents and Mr. and Mrs. Glassner were friends and neighbors in the east a number of years ago and in renewing the family connections, the romance of the young couple began. A special meeting of the Ver nonia Stury club was held at the home of Mrs. E. S. Thompson Mondy afternoon to hear the re port of the program committee and to conduct business pertain ing to the coming year’s work. Mrs. Ray D. Fisher, out-going vice-president presided in the ab sence of Mrs. A. C. Knauss, presi dent. The new program, read by Mrs. F. D. Macpherson is one of the most interesting the club has contemplated, being a study of modern literature and including a musical number from a modern composer at each meeting. Instead of having two meetings a month as formerly, members plan to meet once a month on each fourth Thursday. The ar rangement is temporary. The first regular meeting for the year will be held at the home of Mrs. L. H. Dewey on Sep tember 27, at which time the new officers elected last spring will begin their work. Mrs. E. S. Thompson is president, Mrs. Judd Greenman, vice - president, and Mrs. H. M. Bigelow, secretary treasurer. TREHARNE — (Special.) — Miss Wilma Glassner was pleas antly surprised at her home Fri day afternoon when friends and neghbors gathered and gave her a linen shower. FLETCHER A farewell party was given to Mrs. Rose Fletcher, who is leav ing soon to live in Yamhill by the members of the Mountain Heart Rebekah club Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Grace Miner. The evening was spent in visiting and sewing and at a late hour refreshments of ice cream, apple pie and coffee were served. MARIAN McCOY AND GLOYD ADAMS MARRY Miss Marian McCoy and Gloyd Adams, well known Vernonia young people, were married in Kelso, Wash., Tuesday. The cere mony was witnessed by Mrs. A. E. Adams, son Bobbie, and Mrs. Dora Washburn. The couple will make their home in Vernonia, living in one of the A. E. Adams houses.
