Small piece suet
3 large onions
Can tomato sauce
Dash of celery salt
Salt and pepper to taste.
Cut suet in very small pieces,
put in large iron kettle, or thick
aluminum kettle, fry brown, put
cleanly washed beef in the fat
and thoroughly brown on all
sides. Season, salt, pepper and
celery salt, now have onions peel­
ed and cut fine put over the
meat. Put one cup of water over
all and add tomato sauce. Put
cover tight and simmer until ten­
der.
Then mix Vi cup flour to paste
and stir into the meat gravy, ad­
ding enough hot water to make
a quart of the liquid. Cook until
thick then put gravy through
sieve, and serve with mashed po­
tatoes.
WHOLE WHEAT GEMS

2 tablespoons sugar
Pinch of salt
i/» teaspoon soda
Enough sour milk to drop from
spoon.
Mix flour, sugar, salt and soda.
Add melted butter and sour milk.
Drop on baking pan and bake in
moderate oven.
