J PAGE TWO N* O. W. Install Officers Pythian Sisters To Give Card Party The Neighbors of Woodcraft held their public installation Jan uary 21. After the flag cere mony the following officers were installed. Guardian neighbor, Eda Park er- past guardian, Melian Tre- harne; adviser, Hilda Keasey; magician, Alice Mills; clerk, Er ma Johnson; banker, Oza Mae Cameron; musician, Silvia Turn er; captain of guards, Emma Mil ler; flag bearer, Ida Johnson; managers, Alta John, Mary Han kel and Rilla Schneider; inner sentinel and correspondent, Nola Brady; outer sentinel, Roy Brady. The installing officer was Alice Mills. The following program was giv en: Song, “Carry Me Back to Old Virginia,” Silvia Turner, and El eanor Wridge; reading, "Training a Husband,” Hilda Keasey; drill by 12 ladies; reading, “The Bald Headed Man,” Nola Brady; tap dance, Ada Mills; song, “Roses of Picardy,” Eleanor Wridge.^ There was also a pageant, “Ba chelor Hall Medley,” with Mrs. Art Wridge at the piano. Bachelors were Mr. Younglove, Mary Hankel; Mr. Gayboy, Melian Treharne; Mr. Lofty, Hilda Keas ey; Mr. Single, Eda Parker. Old maids were Miss Winsome, Nola Brady; Miss O’Flaherty, Er ma Johnson; Miss Prim Rose, Sil via Turner; Miss Flighty, Emma Miller; Miss Spinster, Hazel Ste venson. Refreshments were served to 150. The Pythian Sisters will give the first in a series of card par ties on Wednesday evening, Feb ruary 10, at 8 o’clock in the I. O. O. F. hall. No prizes will be given that night as grand prizes for both bridge and five hund red will be awarded at the end of the series. Party for Marie Andrew Mrs. Oliver Andrew entertain ed a group of children with a party at her home Saturday af ternoon to celebrate the seventh birthday of her daughter, Marie. The afternoon was spent play ing games, following which, the hostess served a lunch of jello and birthday cake. The children present were Mar tyn Mayfield, Anna Bell Smalley. Juanita Hanson, Margaret Fish er, Betty Hagelman, Alma Jean Norman, Beverly and Yvonne Wridge, Virginia Johnson, Alta Gunnoe, Lucile Colson and Ce cil, Curty and Marie Andrew. Myrtle Thornbrue sent a gift, but was unable to attend. Rebekahs Install Officers Installation of officers of Mountain Heart Rebekah lodge, No. 24» was held in the I. O. O. F. hall Thursday night, January 28, with a good attendance. Mrs. Beulah Stanton of the local lodge acted as installing of ficer, being the district deputy president. The elective officers installed were Marie O’Donnell, noble grand; Helen Fogel, vice grand; Emma Miller, secretary; Iren« Spencer, treasurer. The appointive officers were Selma Webb, warden; Beulah Bas- lington, conductor; Ora Glassner, chaplain; Pearl McCabe, musi cian; Rose Schultz, inside guard ian; Mae Mellinger, outside guar dian; Beulah Stanton, R. S. N. G. ; Bessie Herrin, L. S. N. G.l Martha Frey, R. S. V. G.; and Hazel Graven, L. S. V. G. Folowing the ceremony lunch was served. Endeavorers Hold Backwards Party The Christian Endeavor society of the Christian church enjoyed a backwards party last Friday night at the home of Velma Veal. The guests came dressed appro priately with their clothes on backwards and the party progres sed in a manner quite opposite to the usual procedure, begin ning with goodbye and refresh ments and ending with games.
