Four cases of small pox, report
ed this week in the St. Helens
and Columbia City community,
caused a rush of vaccinations
among school children and grown
ups.
At Columbia City every
pupil in the school except two
were vaccinated and there many
vaccinations at John Gumm and
McBride schools her*.
The cases reported are a mild
form of small pox. The prompt
health measures left little cause
for alarm that an epidemic would
be caused.

County Budget
Shows Decrease
(Rainier Review)
The Review promised its read
ers a comparative statement of
the county budget of last year
and this. This statement is inter
esting in the extreme. Space for
bids a comparison item for item.
In the bond redemption item last
year there was an item of $10,-
000 for sinking fund, while this
year this item is eliminated.
The total estimate under Gen
eral County Fund last year was
$337,584.54 while this year this
item was cut to $265,612.05, a
reduction of $71,973.49.
Last year the item under Gen
eral Road Fund amounted to
$95,870.62, while this year this
item totalled $73,445.87, showing
a cut of $22,424.75. Included in
the item this year was $10,000
for unemployment relief work.
The various road districts prac
tically all show a reduction in
the amount to be raised by taxa-
tion.
The high school tuition tax last
year, affecting all property out-
side high schools, amounted to
$45,000.00, and this year this
item is reduced to $38,154.00.
The sum total of all taxes lev
ied last year was $430,730.86,
while this year the total is $302,-
097.23, a reduction of $128,633.-

NO WONDER the factory cannot keep up with orders for this tre
mendous radio value! No wonder it is the fastest-selling radio in the
-world! A This is the radio you have heard so much about and seen
advertised in the magazines... the one that actually performs better
than sets selling at twice or three times its price. Consider the list of
features it offers. Look at the illustration. This is not a "midget” nor
a "portable”, but a real, full size receiver in a handsome cabinet of
genuine American and Figured Black Walnut, trimmed in V-matched
Oriental Wood. Baby Grand is a welcome addition to any home...
either as a regular set or a second set. A See this wonderful radio at
your dealer’s store now, today, before public demand exhausts thia
shipment. No obligation, and you can protect yourself on delivery.
