VERNONIA EAGLE, VERNONIA, OREGON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 80, 1931. ♦ — — — - I L PAGE THREE — A TL A 1 i * ■ b 500 PEOPLE to Help Build COLUMBIA COUNTY Columbia County is potentially one of the richest in the state. It needs direction for development. The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce pro vides a means for that direction. There are many substantial people of means in the middle west and east who are looking to the great Pacific Northwest as the land of opportunity. They have the money to make them successful men and women in this country of great natural resources and advantages. We have many people already on the land in this county who would be more successful if they could be brought a certain amount of encouragement and assistance. Aims of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce— 1. To promote a spirit of harmony between all sections of Columbia County. 2 To aid in the development of Columbia County through (a) the attraction of substantial agricultural and industrial men (b) by helping industries and farmers who are already here. It is not the purpose of the organization to encourage those without means to come to this county. 3. To develop those lines of agriculture which are known to flourish and do well in the different sections of the county so that land already under cultivation may be made to produce greater income and profit to the growers. Particular at tention will be paid to poultry, small fruits and seed growing. 4. To secure for Columbia County a fair proportion of public money expendi- tures and at all times to look out for the interests of this county where public funds are to be expended. 5. To aid and promote local projects that do not in any way conflict with other sections of the county and that will be of benefit either directly or indirectly to the whole county. z V i l . " , Surely You Want a Part in This Development Work Outside industrial firms are- aiding through moral and financial support. The S. P. & S.
