Her uncle, S. J. De Rock took her back to school j Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lane are in Portland this week. Yocum and Kennedy’s mill is busy sawing lumber for the broom handle factory at St. Hel ens. There is to be preaching in the Church Sunday by Rev. Ev erett at 2:30 p. m. Sunday school at 1:30. All are cordially invited to come and bring friends. Miss Norma Anderson spent the week end at her home in Vernonia. Carl Enneberg has been doing a little work on the road, with the grader, and hauling some rock with the truck. George Benger is in St. Helens on the jury list. Mrs. Wm. Bridgers, Misses Irene DeRock and Julia Banzer were in Vernonia Monday even ing going up for the installation of officers in the Order of Rainbow Girls. Wm. Bridgers was a Clatskanie business visitor on Monday. The Open Forum - - Editor Eagle:- The orchestra of which Ray Charlesworth is director is making perceptible progress both in number of pie ces and musical ability. The com munity of Vernonia is to be com mended for its musical talent, which speaks well for our local people. The city band of Vernonia is growing in efficiency and in this way will help to make the in fluence of the town felt. F.C.C. Heiber, Lee Out for Track Two Vernonia boys, Glen Hei ber and Howard R. Lee, are out for freshman track at the Uni versity of Oregon, which they are attending. Concerning Lee, Bill Hayward, veteran trainer at the university, states that his chances are as good as any one else’s. He took third place in a competition a- gainst 20. men. _______ ATHLETIC CLUB DEFEATS K. P.’S (Continued from page 1.) and General Drawback; and Smith, RF. Bauman, district man ager of the West Coast Telephone company, was in Vernonia Mon day afternoon on a tour of in- pection with Mr. Johns, new pres ident of the company, H. C. M. degree was conferred on a candidate. The Vernonia Athletic club will meet Tuesday evening at the home Mrs. E. E. Yeo. Martin attended Sunday the funeral at Kelso of Mr. Martin’s cousin, Albert Martin, who diel in Los Angeles January 19. Smith. Hot mince pie, ice cream and coffee were served by Mrs. M. D.
