Buildings in Progress
New Construction.
of
Much construction and im
provements of buildings are in
progress at the present time in
Vernonia.
The Crawford building, occu
pied by the Kerr Motor com I
pany, will be remodeled, large
platee glass windows replacing
the small steel frame windows,
and the rear of the building
will be finished in brick and tile
with improvements made on the
'
roof.
Improvements are being made
on the Thomas building.
Construction has started on
the Early building, the home of
the new J. C. Penney store.
Construction is completed on
the new post office building
which will also house a new drug
store.
Bids were let for building the
new $75,000 Washington grade
school, construction t.o start next
month.
The Gordon building is being
remodeled.
The Watt building will start
this month.
The county intends to start
construction on the new bridge
on Bridge street over Rock creek
before the summer ends.
In all, this spring construc
tion shows a gain over that of
the past four years.
