M. Ells worth of Portland, Ore., will be given at the next meeting of the Parent-Teachers association at 7:30 Monday evening, Dec ember 2, in the high school aud itorium. The region described in this lecture is the same as that flown over by Colonel and Mrs. Lind- bergh during their recent of Central America. If sheep, calves, or pigs have a husky cough, lungworms should be suspected as the cause of the trouble. Good "nursing" is the safest and most satisfactory treatment in most cases, says the Bureau of Animal Industry of the U. S. depastment of agri culture. Infested animals should be taken off wet pasture and put on high, dry pasture, or put up and fed dry feed. A safe supply of drinking water and plenty of good feed are of val ue in tiding the animals over the critical stages of the disease and allowing the lungworms to die out. Sanitation and pasture ro tation, isolation of infested stock, und special precautions in re gard to the pasturing and water ing of young animals are im portant preventive measures. One of the earliest signs of an oncoming attack of measles is the reddened condition of the eyes. Tears may, be noticed as excessive and almost ready to overflow the lashes during the stage of sneezing and coughing that precedes the skin eruption. These early inflammatory warn ings in the eyes require no treatment. They are usually ac companied by some fear of light, and this fear of light has promp ted the vicious care that is re sponsible not only for loss of eyesight but also for the loss of life of many children.
