It is planned to have a short program, Friday, December 21, in the Legion hall with singing by a high school glee club, and then invite Santa in to give each youngster present a small sack of candy and nuts. Because there are a number of families living in Vernonia at pres ent who are without Income and where there are children with too little clothes to wear and not enough to eat, the Legion will make an earnest attempt to bring Christ mas cheer into every such home by delivering a basket of clothing, groceries, or whatever is most need ed. No personal solicitation will be made this year, but voluntary con tributions are asked from as many as can afford to give. Mayor Guy R. Mil's has started the list off with a voluntary gift of $5, but as yet the fund is small, with only $60 left over from last year.
