Few Lettermen in
Football Lineup
Toilet Paper
6 r°ns...... 39c
(By Clarence Wardle)
Football at the high school is
at a disadvantage since the ab-
sence of Coach Austin, who has
a bad case of blood poisoning. The
high school lost the majority of
lettermen, those returning being:
Morris Bennett, Clarence Wardle,
and Gilbert Bergerson.
The lack of lettermen mean new
. material to coach and less ex
perience in the game, yet tiiey are
considered to have a good cHhuce I
, for the team is heavy and the ex-
1 perienced players are in the back-
I field.
Though no games have been
: scheduled yet, the Clatskanie, , St.
Helens and Rainier teams have
I more old players back to give stiff
| competition.
The following have turned out
for football: Donald Hodges, Mor
ris Bennett, Clarence Wardle, Gil
bert Bergerson, Norman Green,
Ward Gooding, Allen Ray, Shelby
Cook, Ralph Peck, Veldon Parker,
Edward Roles, Oliver Mellinger, Ar
chie Adams, Glenn Hieber, Robert j
: Laird, Neal Bush, Larry Marshall,
! Jack Marshall, George Albert, Jun-
I ior Bennett, William Washburn,
i Robert Holcomb and Gloyd Adams.

Our Saies increase
The first six months of this year the total food sales of this organiza
tion
uuii ilici
increased
i
more than 35 per cent over the same period of last year.
We sold
’ 1 more than thirty-five million dollars’ worth of foods between
.Tanuarv
January and July, 1927. During July and August our sales have exceed
ed, by far, any similar period in any previous year. The greater econo
mies and better methods possible through thousand store power mer
chandising combined with the unequaled courtesy and efficiency of
the Safeway Man are, in our opinion, the reasons for this phenomenal
growth. Are you sharing in its benefits?

Now-an even better car
at even lower prices
Since its first day before the public, the Pontiac Six
bas been scoring a scries of triumphs. First came the
triumph of its introduction, which resulted in world
recordóles for a new make of car! Then came a
steady succession of important improvements in quali*
ty, luxury and convenience—
—improvements tfiat resulted in smoother oper
ation and greater handling ease, in greater comfort,
greater economy and greater owner pride—in higher
standards of quality and higher levels of popularity!
And now Pontiac Si« again represents a sensational
new standard of value—the result of this notably finer
quality, combined with beautiful new Duco colors on
bodies by Fisher, at lower prices on all body types.
