Mrs. Mollie Wright of Mist was a passenger on Wednesday stage for Portland, where she spent a few days with her daughter. Helen Hill of Portland, spent the week-end with her father, P. H. Hlil W. C. Lindsay, R. O. Lindsay, Myrtle and Cecelia Pye of Portland spent Saturday adn Sunday at R. S. Lindsays. Teddy Erickson was calling on friends in this vicinity Monday. Mr. and Mrs. John Pearsun and son John of Portland took dinner at Lindsays Sunday. Clarence Lindsay of the Vernonia saw mill, was seen in this vicinity Sunday, riding with one of our young ladies. I Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Mowe and family attended a birthday party in Vernonia last Saturday evening at Mr. Brady’s in honor of their little daughter Norma’s fifth birthday.1 They report a fine time and lota of good eats. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Rainwater baby boy was seriously hurt while Th* young playing in the barn, »an fell about 16 feet. Mrs. Hubar and Mrs. Stailey are visiting at the Martin Rainwater home. Mrs. Dan Rainwater’s brother and wife of Forest Grove are spend ing a few days on the Nehalem and visiting friends. Jess Omduff and Claud Miller shipped two ears of spars las’ week Eila McKinster drove out to spend the week-end with . parents and daughter in a brand new Stude baker six. We hear there are some new neign- bors in our neighborhood, who bought the old Turk place, Mr. and Mrs. Dickerson. Mr. Bergerson is sure making wonderful roads up this way. Ornduff motored to Ber- kenfeld to spend the day with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Nelson. The Sunset camp had a small fire but at thia writing is pretty well under control. Fenner 484 This Thursday morning, fire is spreading near Keasey, a few miles northwest of Vernonia. Ashes are falling over Vernonia and fire going todard logging camps. The big bam at the old Boeck farm burned during the night. It is hoped that the large bunch of fighters can get the fire under control today. Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Hoffman and children are on a week’B vacation in Marshfield and other parts of southwestern Oregon. Mrs. Sarah C. North of Corval lis and her son Alfred M. North of Riverside, California, with his yonng son, are visiting relatives and old time friends up river this week.
