VERNONIA EAGLE A STUDY IN OIL - .. » As a result of the extensive adver tising campaign recently launched by the Standard Oil Company in the in irketing and distribution of their new Winter Grade Gasoline a great deal of public interest has been shown in the manufacture of this new product. It is our object to furnish our 11 ulvrs with first hand information relative to uny news of interest and v '• therefore had an interview with Mr. C. Clay, the local representa tive <>f the Standard Oil Company, olid he hail the following to say: "The Standard Oil Company is now offering the motoring public ths very ■< t guide of gasoline ever manu factured. This new Winter Grade product is not only a quick starting .i oline but It also embodies tho very < cntial qualities required of a high grade fuel.” It might also be of interest for you to know that Mr. A. L. Strout, of the Manufacturing Department of the Standard Oil Company is at the pre ent time making exhaustive dis tillation tests in order that tho Stand ard Oil Company may bo assured that iheir objective is being reached, or, in other words, at the points of man- ufacture certain high standards have been -et that »he new Winter Grade (¡a-el lie must reach. Therefore, dis- ' illation checks are made to assure the Standard Oil officials that the gasoline now being marketed to the - oiiMtimer is the very best gasoline the motorist Inn purchast anywhere nn dthnt it contains all of the import ât -qualities of an evenly balanced gasoline—being a quick-starting fuel with smooth, rapid acceleration, giv ing 100 per cent power and maxi mum mileage. Tl <* particular work of this rep- : < tentative is to see that the gasoline ? <*rved to the consumers in this dis- iiiit meets with the specifications established by thia company and ex iting at the point* of manufacture in El Stgundo and Richmond, Cal. It’ is the Standard Oil Company’s atm to see that the mq tori ng public it presided with the "best grade of gasoline it is possible to produce. Tho Winter Grade Gasoline is an entire ly new product, being a straight run all refined gasoline with a continu ous chain of boiling points, and it is not a blended or mixed gasoline but the result of an extensive study of the operation of automobile engines running under various temperature conditions. where. The demand for this gasoline— which is arleady felt—is a strong in dication that a special product to meet specific winter requirements, has been a long-felt need. The “LEAD” conceded SKAGGS’ STORES in the business of selling gro ceries is by no means an accident. Our organization, our sales volume and pur chasing advantages are much greater than most concerns, our sales per store unit and per man unit are many times those in ordinary stores. The Development Department, of which Mr. Strout is a representative, has some of the most extensive and completely equipped laboratories' in the U. S. In this department is a pro ducts testing division equipptd with dynamometers particularly for the purpose to test motor fuels and mo- tor lubricants.
