New Enterp ises Are Locating in Vernonia all the Time. WANT BETTER MAIL SERVICE AND BETTER POST OFFICE New goods with prices slaughtered. BUILDING IN VERNONIA Citizens generally are disgusted with the chicken coop affair known as a post office in Vernonia. All want, including the postmaster, of whom there is no kick, a much larger building. This city has grown in a few months from an inland village of 300 people to a city of 1000 and the post office building has been out grown many times. We demand a lobby at least 14 by 24 feet and the present box is about one-third that size. To get the mail, a line, similar to a bread line at a soup house, is formed out in the street for hours after mail arrives. We have trains now, a regular railroad, arid we should have mail brought in by train. We also want and believe it possible to get, mail on Sunday and mail go ing out on Sunday. A Portland morn ing paper we don’t get until 3 p. in. and Portland only 45 miles away. Uncle Sam will, we believe, rent for a number of years, at 3 fair rental, a building large enough to accommo date the post office business of Ver nonia, which is growing larger every week. Some one will have to ask for it. There arc men now ready to build such a building to rent. We need more room, three times more room and we need more regular lock boxes. The postmaster favors it, we are sure. Won’t the proper officials please take notice, and answer the pleas of hun dreds of patrons?
