The Town Cow And
Her Owner
Every family that can afford to do so should
keep a cow. It's mighty fine to have an abund
ance of milk and cream and home-made butter
By packing surplus butter to be used during
the time the cow is dry and by feeding skim milk
to chickens or calves, any family an easily use
all the milk given by one cow.
Hundreds of calves will be knocked in the
head at birth during the next few weeks in this
vicinity unless saved from such fate by those
able to care for and feed them. The farmer
cannot keep all of them.
Try raising one or two calves for veal this year

REPUBLICANS!
Sha'l Oregon continue to hold the
pre-eminence that ia now hers?
Shall she forge ahead as a leader
in the Republican party?
Answer "Yes!"Vote X 13 for Ralph E. Williams for
Republican National Committeeman
In the presidential flection of
1916 wheat .Uiere was dissension
and division everywhere, Oregon
was the only state west of the Mis
souri river to go Republican. Har
mony !
Progressives and Republicans
united in giving credit for this re
markable achievement to Ralph E.
Wliliamsi nstional commtiteeman
since 1908.
In recognition of this and other
services Ralph Williams was elect
ed vie-chairman, the second high
est honor within the power of the
Republican National Committee to
Instow. It is a position of influence
to be reached only jby years of
faithful a ml intelligent service.
Ralph Williams is the first com
mitteeman r representative from
any western state to be elected to
the vice-chainnanship.
Ralph Williams is a veteran of
the national organiztion. He stands
at the head with the leaders. A
new man would, of custom and
necessity, stand at the foot with the
followers.
Republican leaders, in Congress
and out, are Ralph. Williams'
friends This friendship means
much to Oregon and the North
west. Without ostentation Ralph
Wil'iams enlists the aid of these
leaders for the things the North
west needs from the National government.
