It. M. Waiie, president of the U. M
Wiule & Co., wholesale dealers in im
ide.nents and vehicles, died at his
home, -100 Rodney avenue, at -I o'clock
yesterday afternoon. Ho was SO years
old and was one of the pioneer mer
chants and Implement men of Oregon.
Horn in Johnson county, Missouri,

ox team. His father took up a dona
tion land claim near where Hstaeada
is now located.
Young Wadu lived on thu farm three

to California, where bo learned the
printing trade and clerked in a general
merchandise store for three or four
years,
Returning to Oregon he bought n
stock of goods and opened a store in
a tent at The Dalles. A little later he
moved to Auburn, Huker County. He
returned to tho Willainetto valley in
1SG5 and estiibli'hed tho linn of It. M.
Wade & Co., implement dealers, at
Salem, lu IStst he moved to Portland,
and hero built up one of tho largest
Implement jobbing houses in tho north
west. lie leaves u son, It. L. Wadu; two
daughters, Mrs, F. May Glafko and
Mrs. Kdwurd Newbegin. of Portland;
a sister, Mrs. L. K. Murrs, of Salem,
and a brother, W. 11. H. Wade, of Es
tacada. Thu funeral will bo hold Tuesday

MRS. KENNEDY DEAD.

After a three weeks illness Mrs.
ii. jw.iiKdy, wife of a well known
rancher on the Miami, died at the
home Tuesday. The death was not
unexpected as the sufferers condition
was critical for several days prior to
the dentil. Funeral erviccs were held
Wednesday aftcrnon, interment be
ing made in the local cemetery. In the
funeral train were nearly one hundred
friends and relatives from the Miami.
Mrs. Kennedy leaves her mother,
Mrs. Quick of Tillamook, a husband,
and a number of children, besides a
large circle of friends to mourn her
loss. She has made her home in this
district for a number of years and
was widly known.
