Ray, of " lovcrdalf, taken from thr Journal of the ijth, it ii contended that we can now look for an upward tendency in the chrcje market. That the bottom price ha been reached for checc in the local mark et this season and that an advance may be expected within a wtek or morning hv Cnarlcx Ray, the pioneer cheese makrr of Cloverdalc, Tilla mook County. "The present market for cheese," says Mr. Ry,"is about as low a the market will go this season and within two weeks at least I believe that higher prices will be forced There is no surplus of cheese in the Tillamook section at this lime and the entire production is passing into consumption. I he make this seaon is alH-ut nor mal, showing practically no increase over this period a year ago. This is unexpected and is due to the shortage of rainfall." Strenuous efforts have been made by some of the big packing concerns to beat down the price of chcec in this section this season but their ef forts were futile and the market price is being fully maintained generally. Why .belike that London man who lost $100 while FEEDING THE ELEPHANT? The money was in an envelope in tho side pocket of his coat. Thoughtless of results he put biscuit in his pockets for the elephant to delicately extract with his trunk. When the huge beast reached this side pocket he neatly and expeditiously ap propriated both biscuit and money, seemingly relishing his $100 MEAL. It is a safe wager that the mnn'is now a convert to the check ing m stem. Had ho banked his money and let the elephant eat hib check l ook ho could have laughed at the incident, for tho bank would have immediately given him another book.
