Everyone i in harmony with a boost er or should be. But there are differ ent kind of boosters, juat the mow a there are difTe'er.l kind of knockers. No one is in harmony with n knocKer, except of course ho is a knocker him self. Hooaiinjr is sometimes estimated by the blatant noise of a jo-caKed booster, but the real booster, the gonu ine article, the man whose boosting counts is the man who makes his cur roundines better, who tnae his Iwsi noss greater, who by dint of onergv creates a now revenue, commercially or otherwise. The school teacher who maes his school the t -t i a Iwoster, the merchant who brines trade to his town from the outside territory is a f booster, (he rancher who mues his , place, more productive am) profitable ' each year is n booster, and so on. all along the line. Therefore it is a pleas , ure and a profit to be a booster. Weigh-, ing the 'nocer on the same scales we find that while a -nocer may Dial his head otf in declaring he is a booster and too, he may fool some into believ ing he is a booster, he is the one who allows his business and his belongings , to deteriorate, always blaming the other fellow, demoralization and de generation do rf "ppcal to his sense of justice or honor and so long as there is an uproar or noise whether made by a base drum or a howling lunatic, he is perfectly satisfied for he isn't a boost er. Do not overlook the faet that the railroads will carry your exhibits to and from the State Fair free of charge. Tne children of no other state are so generously treat ed by the ra'Iroads, so far as we know. Do not fail to read the rules and regu lations in the State Fair Prize List which tells you what you have to do in order to get the free rate. Some boy or girl who reads this may Bay "I have to work hard all the time ! t,k 2 Stillwell Parii addn, $2.7), and never have a vacation, and do not have time to prepare anything for the fair." I hope very few of you are en tirely deprived of a vacation, but as U having to work hard, you really ought to be thankful for that. Hard work does not hurt you if you do not chafe and worry about it. Our best and greatest people have had to work hard. Surmounting difficulties brings out the best that is in you, and devel ops strength of character. The best exhibits at the school fairs were gen erally made by children who had to work hard. Loafers do not win prizes at fairs nor in the battles of life. Perhaps you are not yet acquainted with Mr. Churchill, our new state Su perintendent, but you will have an op portunity to meet him someday, I hope. '1 am sure you will like him; he says be is very much Interested in the boys and girls of Oregon, and especially in seeing them learn the practical things of life.
