J Salem. Ralph Watson, corporation
' commissioner, has started a crusade
' against corporations which fall to pay
their licenses when due. The law re
i quires that all fees are due July l and
afte- July 15 they become delinquent
and If not paid by August 15. the cor
porations may be fined $100, The
commissioner will request the virlous
district attorneys to start action, when
It Is considered necessary, and should
they default, he will ask the governor

Big Oregon Lumber Mill to Be 'Rebuilt
Hood River. The large mill jf tho
Oregon Lumber company, controlled
by the Eccles Interests, which recent
ly burned at Hood River, will be re
built at once at the same location at
Dee, near the Junction of the east and
west forks, of Hood river. It Is plan
ned to build a mill of the same capa
city ns tho one burned, about 150,000
feet per day, and driven by electricity.
LODGE TO SCALE PEAK
Enterprise Knights of Pythias Initiate
In Clouds.
Enterprise. Knights of Pythias of
Enterprise nre preparing for a novel
mid summer outing an initiation on
the summit of Eagle Cap. a tall peak
In the heart of the Wallowa moun
tains. The plan has been under con
sideration for more thnn a mouth and
committees of tho lodge are now work
ing out the details. Grand lodge offi
cers have given the project their hear
ty approval.
I Eagie Cap, 10,000 feet high, Is 2
miles south of Euterprlso. Tho
Knights plan to go out to the ba3o of
the peak the first day. camping there
for tho night. The second day will
be passed in preparations for the
"ceremony In the sky." From tho
camping ground to the summit la a
long and steep qlimb, up which must
be taken paraphernalia of all kinds
and part of ,the canip outfit. . The ini
tiation will take place at night 'on the
highest point of the peak. ,
As the descent is not safe in the
darkness, tho lodge mombers expect
to piiBB the night qu, the peak, in the
morning the party,,!!! descend to th
meadows at the tyiss of the snowbanks
and will return to Enterprise, after
another rest.
