It is hoped tjiat there will be a large
attendance at the mass meeting vhich will
be held at the Court House next Saturday,
at which time and place port matters vill
be discussed. If present weather condi
tions continue, it will be very inconvenient
for people to get out. However, we be
lieve the importance of the matter deserves
some sacrifice by all, and that there should
by ail means be a good attendance. A
united port for Tillamook Bay watershed is
a thing all Tiliamookers should strive for.

cannot bo increased, it is not likely to
diminish, as most of the range now
used by the sheepmen ia not land that
can bo devoted to agricultural purposes.

long and medium wool breeds in the
Willamotto valloy for supplying the
range breeders, presents almost unlim
ited opportunities. Conditiona are ideal

The electric light plant has consumed
all Its fuel oil and is now using wood.
Mr. Spalding has been fortunate in se
curing enough wood so far, but if we
do not get rail transportation pretty
soon It may work a hardship on the
pleat.

Ralph Werschkul left today for Port
land to be absent a couple of months.
Ho is to take a business course in one
of thu colleges of that city.
Mark Penlcr met with a mishap last
Wednesday and is now confided to his
home with a broken nose. He was
cutting a spruce limb, the end of which
flew up and struck him square across
the nose, making a bad wound and
breaking the bone. Dr. George was
called and after reducing the fracture
found it necessary to take three stitch
es to e-unitc tho flesh.
The annual stockholders meeting of
the Nestucca Valley Bank was held
Tuerday last, at which time the fol
lowing directors were elected to serve
for the year 1913: Chas. Ray, Carl
Haberlach, L. M. Kraner, W. J. Lous
and E. L. McCabc. After this meet
ing the directors conrened and re-elected
the following otlicers : Chas. Ray,
president; Carl Haberlach, vice-president;
W. J. Logus, cashier. W. M.
Owen and Wir. A. High were appoint
ed an examining committee. The duty
of this committee is to check over the
resources and liabilities of the bank
twice each year.
STUDENTS ORDERED TO CHURCH.
The students in journalism at the
University of Oregon at Eugene had to
go to church last Sunday, under orders
to report the sermons delivered from
the different pulpits. Of tho forty-five
"stories" written, one was selected
from each church and given to one of
tho Eugene daily papers for publication.
