sion freely admitted that Portland
should have a short highway to a
connection with the Roosevelt high
way at Tillamook, but they expressed
the belief that the Roosevelt high-
way should first be constructed be-
fore the cut-off road is built, for the
reason that they did not fepl like di-
verting money from the Roosevelt
highway construction fund to be used
for a survey of the proposed new
route. They had no objection to the
new road; in fact, thought it should
be built, and could see its advantages
as a short connection route. The
only question with the state commis
sion was whether this was the proper
time to make a survey.
It is thought that these doubts will
later be removed by popular and per
sistent demand for the survey now.
That is where the matter rests at
present, but there is a tone and air
of hopefulness among the delegates
since they returned, that augurs well
for the immediate survey of the road.
That, at least, is the way they feel
about it.

With Springtime comes a marked desire

is Nature’s provision for Man’s need of
vitamines. Perhaps that is why we like
ham and bacon all the year round—because
they also contain vitamines in easily
