A serious accident to a little two
year old child of E. E. Hoffman of
this city last Sunday morning was
narrowly averted when the latter
started to back into his garage, after
first driving out of it. When he drove
the car out. the child was not near,
but as he started to back in again
for some lesson, he was attracted
by the exclamations of his wife, and
stopped, but not until the little one
had been knocked down by the back
part of the auto, and somewhat bruis­
ed. A second or two later the ma­
chine must have passed over the child,
with what results may be conjectur­
ed. How the baby got out there so
