The evolution of the railroad locomotive here ia shown in a striking manner. At the top
No. 4300, nOweat gigantic mountain-type locomotive of the Southern Pacific, for heavy trans-
ntinental passenger trains. Standing beside it, in sharp contrast, is the old “C. P. Hunting-
n,” or Locomotive No. 1 of that railroad. Below is the famous “Rocket” which pulled the
