D. SPRINGS Blankets Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kumm of near Blaine, were asked to go to Tillamook last Tuesday for a ride with some friends, but when the auto slopped at the grange hall, the first intimation that the elderly couple had of the real nature of the surprise was when a large crowd entered the hall and begun to congratulate them on their golden wedding day anni versary. A table that groaned under its weight of good things to eat was set, and as a wedding march was played, the respected couple were given the place of honor at the head of the table near a big wedding cake in yellow icing, that resembled a gold cake. The principals were presented with a beautiful teakwood tray with Japanese pictures on it. Mr. Kumm was the recipient of a fine gold mounted pipe, and Mrs. Kumm was given a cameo pin set in gold. The hall was well filled with friends and neighbors of the worthy couple, and the occasion was greatly enjoyed by all. •: $500,000 NEW STAGE LINES It is reported that a new stage line with a capitalization of $500,000 is now in the field, with headquarters in Portland, and that it will soon begin to operate stages on all the present important lines in Oregon, leading out from Portland.
