lished by the devout fathers of
observing annually a day of
Thanksgiving for the bounties
and protection which Divine
Providence had extended thru-
out the year. It has come to
be perhaps the most chartieter-
istic of our national observanc­
es and as the season approach

is fitting formally to direct to
this ancienct institution of our
people and to ctill upon them «
again to unite in its appropri­
ate celebration

ed, in the experience of our na­
tion, by a complexity of trials
