RULES OF CONTEST
1. Contest closes july 1st, 1922, and all answers must
be mailed on or before that day. though ‘t is not necessary
that they reach the Headlight office on that day.
2. Cohtest is open to everybody, whether they live in
or outside of Tillamook. Employees of tli’s paper or any­
one connected with the Headlight however are barred
from participating.
3. Answers should be written on only one side of the
paper. Wrlte your name and address plainly at the head of
yourlists. If you write of anything else, use a seperate
sheet of paper.
4 Only English words found in the dictionary can be
used. Obsolete and foreign meening words w'll not be
counted.
5. The same object can be named but once. This does
not preclude however the naming of an object which is
a part of another object.

6. Only such compound words which by long usage
have become, and in the dict’onary are given, as one word,
can be used. Hyphenated words and words that appear
>n the dictionary as two words are not to be considered.
7 rhe word may be given in the singular or plural
’orm but ‘f the one is used the other can not be.

and penmanship will not be taken into consideration, but
every ccntestart should be careful about the spelling so

9- Only one preze will be awarded to members of the
same household, or to any group outs’de of the familv
who may have co-operated in the answering of this puzzle.
10. 1 he judges will be three well known citizens of
th’s community hav'ng no connection with the Headlight
and will be selected for their fitness for such a task, 'i he
award ot prizes as determ'ned gy these judges will be
tinal and each contestant agrees to abide by their decision.
11. In arriving at this decision the judges will allow
one po nt tor each correct word. A margin of 15 incorrect
words will be granted to each contestant to allow for a
possible legitimate difference of opin'on; but each incorrct
word above that number will count one against.
