Two Tillamook lawyers (it won’t
do to tell their names) are joshing
each other and being joshed quite
a bit by their friends over an inci­
dent that occurred recently when
one of them was asked to sit as a
special judge in a “bootlegging”
case. The one who was temporarily
wearing the judicial ermine was
in doubt as to-what penalty to fix
in the case. He called up his fel­
low barrister and said, “Say, John,
I’ve got a bootlegger here and don’t
know what to give him", “Well,
about $10 a quart, and say, can you
get a couple for me?”

mitteeman for Oregon. Ralph E. Wil­
liams. Mr. Hays should know. His
testimony may be accepted as some­
thing more than a mere polite and
formal expression of approval, to be
expected from one member of the
organization for another; for .t is
supported by the entire committee,
which, not many months ago. by u-
nanimous vote of the representa­
