Hemlock, Tillamook county. Oregon,
on January 21, 1901, and died at the
St. Vincent Hospital, Portland, Ore
gon, Friday, May 5, 1922, aged 21
year«, 3 months and 14 days, She
was the only child of her parents
I^enry A. and Minnie B. Ely.
At an early age she united with
the United Brethern church at
f althful
Beaver and remained
member.
The strength of her faith
in God will be remembered as a her
ltage of comfort to her bereaved
parent« and friends.
She will be greatly missed by her
sisters and brothers of Beaver Re-
beckah Lodge of wfliich order she
has been an active and untiring
member for th« past three years. At
the time of her death she was the
efficient secretary, the youngest Past
Noble Grand and also District Depu
ty President of the lodge. But she
will be missed most in the inner
circle, the shrine of her devotion,
the home, where she grew to young
womanhood like a lily, pure and in
nocent. Iler smile was like a ray of
sunshine. To tills father and moth
er our hearts go out In sympathy.
Her illness wax short and she was
a great sufferer, but was patient
and evidenced a firm trust in the

All that loving bauds and human

life, but she passed away quietly

A precious one from us l> gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant In our home,
Which never can be filled.
God in his wisdom has recalled.
The boon his lofe had given;

Williams a Joke as Vice-Chairman
Fithian’s opponent, Ralph E. Williams, has been sidetracked by
th e National Committee to a harmless vice-chairmanship and is useless
to Oregon. Carrying kid gloves in one hand and a cane in the other,
UI h hands are full and he has not been able to do a single thing for
Oregon during the 14 years he has been on the Committee,

What is Wrong with Williams?
lite reason is that the National Committee seems extremely un
willing to trust Williams with the management of even the Pacific
Coast part of the national campaigns. For Instance, in 1918, when
a It. glonal Director for the Coast was elected, the Committee turned
