The startling and unusual effect of
Bightless eyes shown in Mary Pick
ford’s latest United Artists pcoduo-
tion, "The Love Light,” which will
be the attraction at the Gem theater
Tuesday, May 10th, is the dlaoovery
of the star’s director, Frances Mar
ion and her husband, Fred Thomp
son.
When Miss Maulon figured on hav
ing a blind man in a few of the
scenes she immediately tried to de- ■
vise some method of getting away,
from the usually stereotyped stare
goor closed eyes which have been i
shown so many times on the screen. I
While on the boat returning from
Italy where the scenes are laid. Mr. I
and Mrs. Thompson began export-’
meriting on each other's eyes, and
finally devised a film that- is now
used, the nature of which they will
keep a secret. It took some little
argument to convince Raymond
Bloomer, the leading man, that it
would in no way injure-his eyes, and
as it would be only for short flashes
they finally secured his consent to
use the new method. However, as
an extra precaution. Miss Pickford-*
engaged an experienced oculist to
stay on the set during the filming of
these scenes.
Miss Marlon also devised a numb i
of other effects which will be seen
in "The Love Light.*
