Fire Chief Coates received a letter
last week from H. C. Barber, the
State Fire Marshal, stating that he
and Jay Stephens and Horace Sykes
would be in Tillamook on June 28th.
They say that as they wish to make
the best of their day here they hope
to meet with the Commercial Club at
a noon luncheon, and also with the
Woman’s Club, and all other public
spirited organizations that would be
interested In the betterment of the
city.
They have Mr. Stephen’s Fire
Prevention film yhich they will
i show that evening at the Gem Thea
tre. No admission will be charged.
Mr. Coates and the other members of
thc Are department are planning a
big time and they wish the citizens
to give Mr. Stephens and bis compnn-
. ions a hearty welcome and let them
know that Tillamook’s citizens are
right there when it comes to any
kind ot improvements for the city, so
let’s everybody come out and give
them a good turn out and a rousing
welcome.
The business men of the city are
arranging for a noon luncheon on
Monday next, at which Mr. Horace
Sykes, of the State Fire Marshal’s
office and Mr. Jay W. Stevens, of the
Fire Prevention Bureau of the Pac-
i ific, San Francisco, will be honored
I guests, and deliver their message to
| the business men. All who are in
terested in Insurance rate« will then
have an opportunity to learn how to
keep them at a minimum. The visit
of these gentlemen to the city la not
an inspection trip, but more of an
educational campaign to encourage
the prevention of loss by fire. Every
business man i« expected to attend,
and if any are not in «heir places of
business when called upon by the
committee of arrangements, they can
obtain particular« by inquiring of
