Nehalem Notes.
Prof. John Ashton, successor to
Prof. Brimhall, as principal of the
Public School, was in town Sunday,
getting acquainted with conditions*
and trying to secure a house in which
to live this summer with his family.
He expects to work in the Wheeler
Mill during vacation, or a part of
the time at least. He expects to at
tend summer school for a few weeks.
Leonard Cain spent a few days
out at O. A. C„ last week, attending
some of the closing excerclses and re
newing old acquaintances.
Saturday, Miss Stevenson left for
her home near Medford, Ore., It was
her first visit home since the begin-
ing of school last fall.
Mrs. and Mrs. Gage left Friday even
ing for their home at Sheridan, Or.
Prof. Brimhall left for Tillamook,
Monday, where he will make his fut
ure home, He has been principle of
our school for the past three years
and leaves many warm friends.
- Mr. and Mrs. Gage left Friday
evening for their home in Sheridan.
After attending the Nehalem High
school through the school months,
Mildred Morris left for her home in
Grass Valley, Ore., last Saturday.
Prof, and Mrs. Barnes and daugh
ter, Ruth, left for Creswell, Ore.,
Tuesday where they will spend the
summer on their ranch.
The public school closed a very
successful term of school last Friday,
with a picnic at Manzanita beach.
The day was ideal and the entire
school with many of the patrons en
joyed the day to the fullest extent. It
has become an annual event with
the school, and is looked forward to
with great interest by the pupils and
teachers alike.
H. J. Hickerson is now keeping
bachelor's hail, his wife and baby
having left the first of the week, to
spend two or three months with her
parents in eastern Oregon.
The commencement excerclses of
the Nehalem High School were welt
attended last Friday night. The mair.
address was delivered by Prof. James
T. Matthews, of the Willamette Uni
versity at Salem. Two hours after
Prof. Matthews had arrived in Ne
halem last Friday, he received a tele
gram stating that his mother had
died very suddenly at Ocean Park,
Wash., for which place he left Sat
urday morning.
Wheeler and Nehalem ball teams
crossed bats on the home grounds
last Sunday with the result standing
6 to 3 for Wheeler. It was some
live game.
Lumber is on the ground for re
pairs and additions to the Methodist
parsonage now occupied by Rev.
Warren and family.
The children of the public schools
are anxiqpsly awaiting the announce
ment of their grades as the result of
the recent state examination.
x The Whole Secret of>
A Better Tire
Simply a Matter of the Maker*» Policte»
This you will realize—once you
try a Brunswick—that a super-tire
is possible only when the name
certifies that the maker is follow
ing the highest standards.
For tire making is chiefly a mat
ter of standards and policies—-cost
plus care. Any maker can build a
good tire if he cares to pay per
fection’s price.
All men know Brunswick stand
ards, for Brunswick products have
been famous for 74 years.
Formulas, fabrics and standards
vary vastly in cost. Reinforce
ments, plies and thickness are a
matter of expense. And these vari
ations affect endurance. It rests
with the maker how far he wishes
to go— how much he can afford
to give.
For there are no secrets nor pat
ents to hold one back.
To ascertain what each maker
offers one must analyze and test
some 200 tires—as our laboratories
have done.
Then it is a matter of combining
the best features and building ac
cording to the highest standards.
Once you try a Brunswick you
will understand how we have built
model tires, regardless of factory
expense.
Yet Brunswick Tires cost you the
same as other like-type tires. Our
saving is on selling cost, _ through
our nation-wide organization.
We realize that you expect more
from Brunswicks, and we assure
you that you get it. ONE Bruns
wick will tell you the story.
And then you’ll want ALL
Brunswicks. No other tire, you’ll
agree, gives so much for your
money.

The sqyjrrcis live in the treetops
And chatter away in fun;
While the birds sing to us everyday.
From morning till set of sun.
There is an orchard of many acres
With apples and peaches to spare.
And we children have fun in riding
A gentle and plodding old mare.
The scotch broom blooms on the hill
side,
The golden rod on the lawn.
And up by the spring in the hollow.
The Oregon Grape grows on
There are shrubs and vines of many
kinds.
There are blackberries galore.
There are fern and laurel and pines.
What child could ask for more?
Yes. its just a little ranch house
That stands at the edge of the wood
But, Oh, its comfy and cozy
Is this little home so good.
