TILLAMOOK HEADLIGHT, MAY 13. REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR SECRETARY OF STATE For < State Road Limit BALLOT TITLE IS AS FOLLOWS;- 302 X jva 303 «va CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT—R ferred to the people by the Legislative Uy. No LIMITATION OF FOUR PER CENT STATE INDEBTEDNESS FOR PERMANENT ROADS. Purple To amend Serum 7 of Article XI of the Constitution of the State of Oregon so as topermit the creation of debts an-1 liabilities incluri1 g previous debts and liabilities for the purpose of building and maintaining permanent roads to the amount <>f four per cent of the assess« I valuation off all the property in the State of Oregon, instead of two per cent gs now provided I y law. - asking the government to build a 1 highway from Puget Sound along the Washington Coast connecting with ■ he Roosevelt Highway and along the California Coast to the Mexican line, and the State of California has voted 14,000,000 for the building of this road. Should these bills be pass ed by Congress, it will result in a highway from Puget Sound along the the Washington. Oregon and Califor nia coust to the Mexican line. Durng my term as Register of the U. S. Land Office I worked for the revision of the public land laws in the interest of the homesteaders who were seeking to settle the wild lands of Oregon. I prepared and had intro duced in Congress a bill providing for an annual six months’ leave of ab sence for the purpose of giving the homesteader an opportunity to earn money to live on while improving his homestead and to allow those who had children of school age an opportunity to send them to school, which resulted in the Leave of Ab sence Law. I stand squarely for more and bet ter roads; for irrigation of our arid lands; for the improvement of our the Rivers and Harbors; that government build and maintain all roads in the National Forests for the survey and classification of all lands in the Forest Reserve; that the non-timbered, agricultural and graz ing land may be segregated and thrown open for settlement; bigger and a greater Oregon. March 23, 1920. B. F. JONES. Pd. Advt. The Most Welcome Tire I That Ever Came to Market Men Who Appreciate Superlative Values Prefer The Brunswick In every great tire factory, the chief question is: “How much can we give for the money ? And the product depends on the policy adopted. Every man who has become ac quainted with Brunswick Tires knows that Brunswick standards are again evident. This famous con cern— noted as a leader in every line it entered since 1845—has once more proved that its policy is right. A perfect tire is simply a matter tof knowledge and standards and tekill. No secrets nor patents pre vent making an ideal tire. But standards come first. For in •tire making there is vast room for skimping, for subtle economies, for hidden shortcomings, Makars with out the highest standards don’t build high-grade tires. The Branswick organization of tire makers includes a brilliant staff of technical experts. Not a man among them has spent less than 20 years in handling rubber. Each is a master of his craft. And the new ideas they bring to the attention of Brunswick direc tors receive sincere consideration. Every proved betterment is adopted unanimously. The Brunswick Tire is a combi nation of acknowledged features — plus Bruns wk.. ¿¡¿andarás of manu facture. The result is a super-tire, the like of which you have never known be fore. The kind of a tire you will gladly join in welcoming. Yet Brunswicks cost no more than like-type tires. Try ONE Brunswick. We prom ise a surprise. And we feel certain that you will want ALL Bruns wicks. Then good tires will have a new mean’’ng to you. 1 Open Letter to the Voters of Ore- gon: Hundreds have never written, tele graphed or asked me to become a candidate for Secretary of State; be lieving in the principles that if a Keep these thr-c facte in mind.
