Mr. Maxwell and party left Tillamook Saturday morn ing to loop the loop, going out by way of Seaside. While in Portland their car turned over at Twenty- third and Washington streets, and it is a wonder that they did not meet with a more serious accident. As it was Mrs. Maxwell sustained a fracture of the left leg and was taken to the Good Samaritan hospital. The others were also taken to the hospital as they were all more or less shaken up. The car was descending the hill, ac cording to Mr. Maxwell's statement, when the brakes refused to work. Th an endeavor to check the speed and avoid accident he attempted to turn into the side street. Instantly a front wheel of the car collapsed under the strain and the machine upset, throw ing the occupants to the pavement, none of them was pinned bt se|th * the wreck.
