A Corvallis paper has the following to say in regard to Rev. Curtiss: '•Rev. C. C. Curtis has received a •‘call” to come to Tillamook to take charge of the Christian church there and he has accepted. "Mr. Curtis resigned his pastorate here about six weeks ago. He took charge of the Corvallis church about a year ago, coming here from Dallas. He is a pusher, progressive in all lines of work tending to make the church bigger, more modern and better equip ped for present day requirements.” Timber Cruiser Badly Hurt. On Monday morning John A. Camer on aged 70 years, while timber cruis ing with another man on the north Fork of the Wilson about four miles above the Wesley Rush place fell a distance of 40 feet striking a ledge of rock and breaking his left leg above the anale and injuring his eye. Had he not struck the ledge of rock he would have fallen 1000 feet. Bis pard- ner came out to the Rush place and one of the boys went to help the injured man out, but they were unable to do so. so word was sent to town and N. J. MeyerB, Boyd Mendenhall, Dave Brown, Everett Wells, one of the Stewart boys, Chester Thomas, Connie Dye, Heisel boy, two Rush boys and Wooley boy went out with Dr. Boats and Grant Mills in uuto and took him out earlv Tuesday morning, The boys who assisted in this work deserve much credit as it was a difficult and danger ous task. The patient is now at the Boals hos pital doing nicely. The accident oc- cured on Monday morning at 9 o’clock and he did not arrive at the hospital until 10 o’clock the next morning Killing the Goose. Today the worst foe of the Ameri can workingmen are of their own household, They are the men who have persuaded the workers in certain trades in New York to go on a sym pathetic strike. 1 lie whole future of organized workingmen is bound up with the fu ture of American industry. Expand ing industry means high wages and prosperity. Decadent industry means a redundant labor supply, with sta tionary or tailing wages and distress and want on the margin of the indus trial field. If American workmen arc to prosper, more and more of cosiety’s savings must be invested in shops and machinery. And they will be so in vested in proportion as such invest ment looks safe to investors. The systematic strike means just this to the manufacturer: that he can not insure the loyalty and fidelity of his workmen to him by his own loy alty and fidelity to them. IT'S only natural that 1 you should want to appear at your best whether you are at home, at the office, in business or traveling from place to place. Nothing gives an ap pearance of prosperity and success like a smart fitting, good looking, stylish Suit and every man who would radiate such im pressions can do so at a very modest cost.
