THE TILLAMAAK HEADLIGHT.
Editorial Snap Shots.
The lumber market is again on the
slump. Thanks to Democratic free
trade.
Americanism, first, last and all the
time is one of the precepts of the
Republican party.
’‘Stung!” The Bull Moose party kill
ed itself, and those who joined it feel
they have been "stung.”
It was a little late in getting here,
but we all appreciate warmer and
more congenial weather.
The bonding question keeps crop
ping up. The snap shot man is oppos
ed to bonding the county if the mon
ey so raised is to be used for con
crete roads.
is a good opportunity for those who
deserted the party to return to the
fold, even though they may now feel
a little ashamed of themselves for do
ing so.
Rats! There are some fool Demo
crats who think that the four million
Bull Moosers can be lined up with
the Democratic party. It is as absur-
ed as it is impossible. Very few so-
called Progressives will line up with
the Democratic party. They are not
that foolish to affiliate with a free-
trade party when they are decided in
their opinion that free trade is a curse
to every industry in the United States
The issue in the presidential election
will be Republican protection vs.
Democratic tree trade.
In a few years tlie price of autos
will be reduced in price and that most
of the best equipped machines will
sell for less than one thousand dol
lars. This is what those who are in
touch with the automobile business
now predict. It looks hardly possible
tliat autos that are selling now around
two thousand dollars with all the
latest improvements, will be selling
for one thoissand dollars, in a com
paratively short time. But we are told
that this is what is going to happen
and that those who have a craze for
six cilenderfe will Le ustrib machines
with only four.

The scarcity of rennet ought to set
the dairymen of Tillamook to think
ing, for they should be making their
own rennet. Anyway, the directors of
the cheese associations and the Coun
ty Agriculturist should be devising
some plan to procure a rennet made
at home. Every dollar that is put in
to home industries is that much
money saved to the county. It is
more than probable that the war will
continue for several years, and in
the meantime the dairymen should
plan to have the rennet manufactured
in Tillamook. It is costing some of
the cheese factories an additional ex
pense of 150.00 per month for rennet
with the prospect of higher prices
and difficulty in procuring it at all.
The Headlight as usual is lining up
with the brewery interests by giving
space, to booming their side of the
case. This move on the part of the
Headlight is perfectly natural. The
Headlight was at case and at home
lined up with the Warren Construc
tion Company, which from all ap
pearances endeavored to rob our
people. Ill fact it seems that the
Headlight is ready to line up with
any old thing in preference to the
people.—1 illamook Herald.

the Herald says, the snap shot man is
ready to line up with any old thing,
we must draw the line at being lined
