There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Commercial Club on Monday evening, when President Dwight called it to order. The first business taken up was the financial report of Secretary Callahan which showed that there are 97 mem bers and a small balance on hand, amounting to $8.62 and $9.50 in the entertainment fund. The State Grange. The Secretary reported receiving a letter from the Grange asking that a committee of the club be appointed to help in the entertainment of the State Grange which will meet in this city next month. Several of the mem bers thought that the Women’s Civic League should take part in the enter tainment of the Grangers and a committee from that organization should be appointed to meet with those who have charge of the enter tainment features of the Grange meeting here. The president appoint ed R. C. Jones, A. H. Gaylord and F. C. Bak. a committee to represent the chib. Bayocean Road Endorsed. The club went on record recom mending that the County Court ex pend'the $10,250 appropriated for the Bayoce n road, which met with the unanim- is support of the members, who made strong arguments favoring the completion of that road as soon atpoasi le, the club passing a resolu tion to that effect. It was also decid ed that a committee be appointed to wait <|n the County Court and tin tent appointed M. F. Leach, C lards and Jack Olson. Civic Improvement. The matter of civic improvement •ken up by Prof. Onthank teal of the public school who several pictures on a sheet kg some of the rubbish and filth ■nises in this city. He made a br civic improvement and ad- ■ having the pupils of the Iget busy at their homes and in hr of prizes. This was acquiesc and it was decided that the chil riate $35.00 for prizes and that 'omens' Cii-ic League take of this matter. Nomination of Officers. President Dwight, previous to the nomination of officers, made some pertinent remarks about the future management of the club and read the preamble of the by-laws, which re ferred to the aims and objects of the club. He thought too much time had been wasted in the entertainment features of the club and too little to the commercial end, and advocated that this be made the main feature of the club the coming year. He thought the club had not been accomplishing the good it should have done and ad vocated a change in policy. Several of the members concurred in his ideas and they thought that some arrange ment could be made to take care of the amusement features by changing the by-laws, and a committee was ap pointed for that purpose, composed of A. H.-Gaylord, B. C. Lamb and J. R. Callahan. President Dwight was then nomi nated for president to succeed him self, and announced that he would ac cept, only on condition that the club would get on a business basis and be a commercial club in reality as well as in name. The nomination were as follows: President—W.’G. Dwight. Vice-President,—C. J. Edwards. Secretary—J. R. Callahan. Treasurer—Fred C. Baker. Trustees (six to be elected)—F. D. Small, C. J. Edwards, C.
