The post office staff managed to1
get it all sorted and cleaned up this
morning.
Manual Borba, son of John Borba,
had a close call of being seriously-
injured on Tuesday, when he was
shot in the leg by the discharge of
a 22 rifle in the hands of his brother,
John. It was thought at first that
he was seriously wounded, and lie
was brought to this city. Upon Dr
Boals examining the wound he i
found that it was only a slight flesh
wound.
The W.R.C. held its regular meet
ing last Saturday afternoon, with all
the new officers at their stations and
u good attendance of members. It ’
was decided to celebrate Lincoln's [
birthday the evening of Feb. 12 with
a fitting program at the Christian
church. The public is cordially in
vited. Next meeting will be held
Feb. 14, at which time the birthdays
of members occurring in February
will be celebrated.

which had beeu bar bound at As

weather, managed to get out and
arrived here on Saturday morning,

freight for the merchants, which
was greatly needed, as some pro
visions had run out at the stores
owing to the tie up on the rail
road. Th“ Patsy brought in 159
sacks of back paper mail, some
of which was three weeks old. Thia
was all sorted by Saturday night.
P. W. Todd was nominated for
postmaster of Tillamook post office
on Friday, to succeed W. F. Baker,
whose time expired last month. A
large number of the business men
and others made an effort to have
the latter re appointed, as the post
master had given such general sat
isfacticn to the patrons of the office,
but being a political office Senators
Chamberlain and Lane could not
see their way clear to recommend
the present postmaster, who, they
admit, had strong indorsements
from business men and patrons of
the office. Pete Lamar, N.J. Meyer
and J. A. Dahlgran were also as
pirants.
This is a paragraph sent from Bay
City and appeared in the Telegram:
“County agate hunters are making
some valuable finds in the chalce-
dones at Bayocean Park, three miles
from this city. The recent heavy
storms have washed the beach to a
distance of several miles down to
the gravel, uncovering some very-
rare specimens, aud almost daily
crowds of people from Tillamook
County towns comb the beach aud
return, reporting great success.”
This appears to be a reash of a sim
ilar paragrash which appeared in
the Portland newspapers of find
ing agates at Newport. No one
here appears to know of “daily
crowds of people” going to Bay
ocean. The Telegram is being im
posed up.
