While southbound from Portland tor
points on Yaquina Bay, the gasoline
sloop Condor, Uuptain lories, will make
regular calls at Tillamook, Bay Cut
and Hubbonville. In this way she will
be brought in direct competition with
the steamer Sue H. Elmore, which has
been ou the Tillamook run from Astoria
for years.
In the Spring it is likely the Condor
will also stop at the several points on
Tillamook bay while she is returning to
Portland from Newport.
Then, it is
stated, considerable freight may be pick,

At
this time of year lhere is but little com

great
quantities of dairy products are shipped
from that section.

the outward trip. Much of the general
merchandise going out on her will be
taken to Tillamook. She will go out
loaded to capacity.
More as an experiment than anything
else, a small shipment of goods was sent
on the Condor to Tillamook on her last
trip Irom here. Well pleased with this
new transportation service, it is said, the
merchants down that way intend tn
give the craft much of their patronage.

Nothing daunted the fire boys, assisted
by a large number of willing hands, bat
tied with lhe situation, their greatest
difficulty being to stop the tire on the
east at the restaurant, which they suc
ceeded in doing, and with fire on lhe root
of Edmunds* store subdued, and on other
roots as well, the spectators took heart
when they saw that the boys had the
firejunder control and confined to the
Olseu building and the two buildings on
the north and east, when it was only a
question of a few more hours before die
fire was all out. It took a great deal
of watching to keep fire from breaking
out on the roofs of buildings, lor the
sparks fell quite thick w hen the tire was
at its height, even the telephone poles on
the opposite side of the street took fire.
