Tillamook has had several serious
cases of wife beating within the past
three week, all being confined to out
siders who were camping in that vicia
ity. It may be that the salt of the
ocean spray proved an irritant to the
thinktank of the hesd of these house
holds and thus produced uncontrollable
brain strains, but whether ho or not.
a most harmonizing remedy is found in
the whipping post, and a few applica

vision of the beater and make him see

It isn't easy to see why Mr Bryan
should want a change of part admin-
istration. He
has thriven mightily
during the twelve years of Repub
lican party government which have
followed his first battle in 1896. In
all of that time the Democrats have
not had control of as much as one
branch of Congress, and the country
has prospered in a degree enabling
people to pay high prices, every year.
to hear Mr. Bryan make Chalnuqtis
speeches, to subscribe fur his paper
and Ins books, and to pay high prices
to listen to Ins winter lectures, Every-
thing has been booming, hiu I lyceuti>s

pay Mr. Bryan the high prices he has
demanded. He lias waxed rich out of
